Future learning

Think what it will be like to teach in 10 years? 20 years? What kind of classroom or learning environment do you want for the future? Write a 6 – 8 page paper in which you: 1.Describe your current or chosen education situation (classroom teacher, corporate trainer, online instructor, curriculum developer, etc.). 1.What is the current prevalent learning theory that you see in this environment? 2.Explain why you think this is. 2.Research past trends in education. 1.Pick one education technology that failed to make it or is now obsolete. 2.Discuss why you think it did not last from a practical and theoretical perspective. For example, Channel One schools was a corporate-school partnership (started in 1989) that gave every classroom in a middle or high school a TV, two VCRs for the school, and a satellite dish. In return, students had to watch a 12-minute news program each morning, which contained 2 minutes of commercials. This program didn’t last very long even though at its peak, over 1,000 schools participated.

The Economics of Healthcare

According to studies undertaken by the US Department of Agriculture, the price elasticity of demand for cigarettes is between – 0.3 and – 0.4 and the income elasticity is about + 0.5. Suppose Congress, influenced by studies linking cigarette smoking to cancer, plans to raise the excise tax on cigarettes so the price rises by 10%. Estimate the effect that the price increase will have on cigarette consumption and consumer spending on cigarettes (in percentage terms). A few states and cities across the United States have imposed a soda tax or a sugar tax on soft drinks, to reduce overall sugar consumption. In most forms, the tax is designed to discourage the production, importation, and purchase of carbonated, uncarbonated, sports and energy drinks with excess levels of added sugar. This kind of tax is a matter of public debate and often strongly opposed by food and beverage producers. Advocates promote this tax as an incentive to cut down on unhealthy diets and offset the growing economic costs of obesity. Do you support a sugar or soda tax? If so, why? If not, why not? Please discuss in detail by showing solid economic reasons to support your view. Is analytical in nature so there is no strict format requirement or minimum words requirement.

Managing resistance to change

A review of how resistance to change can be effectively managed within an organization. A company’s competitive advantage relies on its ability to quickly adapt to changes in both the internal and external environments. Managers that are adept at guiding the change process will have the ability to shape the organizational strategy overall. However, change is often difficult for individuals, so a keen understanding of techniques available to manage resistance is necessary for any manager. Scenario: Your friends at PG Industries need your help again. In the Unit 6 Discussion, you made recommendations to them about ways to introduce teams to help draft a new training program in the manufacturing department. The program has been rolled out, but senior management is struggling to get buy-in from many long-term employees. This resistance to acceptance and adoption of the new training program is causing division within the department. Assignment Checklist: Based on the information provided in this scenario, draft an essay that identifies what you believe will be the four most effective ways one might manage resistance to change in implementing the new training program. Justify your choice of tactics by explaining how it is most appropriate in this circumstance. Utilize at least two external sources as part of your research.

Global warming in America

According to Gallup, an American research-based consulting company known for its public opinion polls, the worry of global warming is at an eight-year high. A recent poll shows about 70% of Americans believe that global warming is real and the effects of it have already begun. However, even within these statistics, there is still a great divide between those who think that global warming is an important issue, what money should be invested into it, what effects it has, or even what exactly is causing it. Looking closer at the issue of climate change, do you believe that it is an important problem in our country to address? Why or why not? What measures, if any, should be taken to help with global warming? What role should the United States take when it comes to climate change? Or has the U.S. invested too much time and money into climate change, ultimately costing jobs and development? Pick a side and present evidence regarding this issue.

Voting rights

On August 6, 1965, during the height of the Civil Rights Movement, President Lyndon Johnson signed The Voting Rights Act of 1965, which prohibited racial discrimination in voting. Although the Fifteenth Amendment had already given male African American citizens the right to vote, many Southern states had various forms of intimidation and violence, including literacy tests, to suppress their vote. The Voting Rights Act finally provided a means to fight voter restrictions and encourage more African Americans to go to the polls. Since its passing, the Voting Rights Act has been viewed as one of the most important pieces of legislation in American history. Looking back at it now, did the Voting Rights Act meet the goals that it had set? Is voter suppression still a problem today? If so, what methods are now used to fight it? If not, how does the country now guarantee that all citizens can have an equal say in the government?

Sexual Double Standards

Step 1: Select your topic. This should be a topic of interest to you that is related to human sexuality. For the critical reflections, the argument paper should begin with a one- to three-sentence statement of the main thesis. A thesis is an argument concerning an issue. It clearly states the author’s perception and position on the issue. Please choose one or two sentence direct quotations from the readings or supporting resources that make your position on the issue clear. The quotation(s) should reference, in a relevant, meaningful way, the issues, idea or concept that you will reflect about and argue in support of that, in the end, you hope all learners will come to think about as a deeply important truth or lesson of this class. To make it easier for you to reflect meaningfully on the topic, the quotation should be relevant to a topic that you can tie directly to your own (or others’) experiences, observations, and critical reasoning. It should also be something you are willing to think critically about.

Step 2: Write your reflection. Your paper should present your beliefs or conclusions related to the topic, and they should be supported with the peer reviewed literature. It should include references from the text “The Psychology of Human Sexuality” By Justin J. Lehmiller or one outside reading assigned by your instructor or both. The paper may also include material from other sources (please see rubric for guidance on this). Then, share your position on the issue in about 700 to 800 words (in meaningful, well organized paragraphs) that defend your beliefs. Essentially, your job is to clarify just what the lesson to be learned is and then to strongly (and thoughtfully) defend why you think the lesson is vital.
