Amanda Genise Experiment 3 Report – Chemistry 315…Two reactions of varying concentrations of Mo(CO)6 and P(OPh)3 was carriedout. Spectrums and absorbance data was collected using an FTIR spectrometer. Thekinetics of the reaction were analyzed. It was found that the reaction was of first orderand underwent a dissociative substitution mechanism. The overall rate constant for thereaction was 0.675 min-1. The experiment was successful and it was observed thatMo(CO)6 and P(OPh)3 can coordinate to make a transition metal complex.
